Convert Hfs To Apfs

broken image

I have an odd problem (?) on 3 seperate test systems with beta 6 (17A330h).

How to convert your drive to APFS: Restart the Mac into Recovery Mode. Launch Disk utility. Click-select your named boot volume. (Not the physical drive above it.) Click 'Deactivate' Toolbar item. Convert to APFS' from the Edit menu. Converting from HFS+ to APFS will require reformatting the disk to APFS. Unless you require special protection in which case use APFS (Encrypted.) Do not try using CCC to clone your HFS+ backup to a newly formatted APFS drive because CCC will revert it to HFS+ in order to make the restored system bootable.

Neither of the 3 systems (2 Mac Mini late-2012 with 1TB Fusion Drives - one encyrypted with Filevault, one NOT, 1 2017 iMac with all-SSD) had the 'convert to APFS' option showing when I installed 10.13 beta 5 (from 10.12.6). How to install wave plugins r2r crack.

Apfs

If your system drive is solid state, the installer will convert from HFS+J to APFS in both a fresh install scenario and an update scenario. Fortunately, there a ways around this automatic conversion. It is controlled by the ConvertToAPFS option in /macOS Install Data/minstallconfig.xml.

Once the upgrade finished, going to Disk Utiliy (booting to recovery console) shows the 'convert to APFS' options greyred out on all (regardless of mounted or unmounted).

I have also upgraded a VM - which showed the 'convert' option just fine!
